City of Eureka, MO

Propelling a community forward

Client

Eureka has the great potential to be a truly vibrant community with its small-town feel and fairly easy access to the larger metropolis of St Louis.

Goal

Mostly known for its Six Flags location and as the gateway to the Ozark Mountains, the city was looking to discover new and exciting ways to engage and attract visitors as well as residents.

By leveraging Eureka’s existing assets to increase their visibility and impact, the goal was to transition Eureka from a fast-growing suburb into a destination community.

Process

We helped Eureka to understand and categorize all of their horseback riding, canoeing, skiing, and trail assets. This gave us a strong benchmark and blueprint to then identify key assets and opportunities.

The process included

  • Community involvement and focus groups

  • Market understanding

  • Collaboration with local stakeholders and community leaders

Armed with well-rounded research we were able to develop strong branding and messaging to promote and activate their current community.

Impact

Since the release of the initial report and branding package, Eureka has already seen the positive ripple effect.

A new mountain bike shop and a craft brewery have opened.

Together they started a funding drive for a new kids mountain bike skills park.

The Chamber of Commerce opened a new co-working space to foster an active, flexible, and creative workforce.

Eureka and the city of Pacific are jointly advocating for an extension of the Meramec Greenway that would link the two cities together and connect the people to the majority of the public lands and trails.

We successfully helped a community re-brand their city, bringing in new revenue and activating its residents.

Eureka is well on its way to being a destination.
